Well I turned the big

Well I turned the big 3-0 yesterday!! Weee, I don't feel any different, in a bit of a funk lately, don't know what my problem is. I am happy to say however that my test results from the small bowel x-rays were normal! So yay for that huh? I don't go back till Feb. and then I will have more blood tests, you know the normal blood count and other blood tests. He did prescribe me something else to help me sleep since I think the Ambien was making me so sleepy during the day, at least I think it is the Ambien. I will be trying Sonata soon, whenever I get a chance to get it filled. We have insurance but my prescriptions are still sorta on the expensive side........Got to get my daughter a band instrument first before I get any medicine filled, I figured it is just sleeping medication, something that can wait. i hope everyone is doing okay out there in Health Diary land. Please leave me a note if you are a reader! I will usually respond in the comments, but if you need to email me you can do so here: REMOVE THE NOSPAM!!

Hi Leslie - thought I'd check out your health log :-) I'm sorry you're having joint pain as well as the UC. I started with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and about 3 yrs later, is when the UC hit me. Both are auto-immune (as you probably know!) and my doc said when you get one, the diseases come in clusters in most people. I sure hope it isn't another auto-immune causing the pain. I'm glad you're doing somewhat better now. It is so frustrating being afraid to venture away from the potty, isn't it?! The fatigue is definitely linked to it all, it takes so much out of you anyway.*HUGS*

Whoo kiddo, I don't envy you. I had some stomach issues in my early 30s. Had the gamut of tests (colonoscopy ~ that shit tastes terrible) until one day my doctor looked me in the eye and said, "There is nothing physically wrong with you." It took a moment for that to sink in. I swallowed my pride, got into therapy and have been symptom free ever since. Well, I still get the occasional rumbling, but I recognize now that something must be bothering me that I am not acknowledging. Once I figure "it" out, things settle back to normal.I can't say if therapy might work for you, but it might be an option. I also think you should find another doctor more sympathetic to your needs. What about a sleep clinic?

I have the same problem! It's 3am as I write this! Sleep is so important! I take Ambien, usually half a tablet, sometimes a whole. My doctor gave me Trazadone but I haven't tried it. Lack of sleep always increases my depression and anxiety...vicious cycle!

I also get panic attacks. I started getting them in mid August. I can relate to how uncomfortable they are, in fact, before I even knew what a panic attack was I thought I was dying and something was very wrong with me. I am 17, and I wonder the same thing. Nothing really major has happened in my life other than my parents divorcing, which was 4-5 years ago. Since then I have accepted it and moved on. I don't know what else to think. I go to a psychometrist about it next Friday so I will see how it goes...

:::waving from Southern La::::: I do not go to places I have never been before. If I'm with someone who has been there then that's fine. Fear of the unknown as I call it. Going places alone I don't do well either. I'd rather stay home. I look forward to all these places to go and things to do when hubby takes the kids to the camp and when the time comes I stay home.

I used to get panic attacks too. Thankfully I finally got over them, but every now and again I still get that freaked out feeling that I used to. I hope that the therapist is able to help and just remember that you'll be ok. You're not a freak or weirdo or anything. Lots of people go through this and come out ok. Best of luck.

I used to make jokes about/to my brother regarding his significant IBS symptoms. Suddenly looking at his facial expression I realized this was an insenstive, inappropriate thing to do, and I feel very guilty and have never joked about it since then.

Hi Leslie,I have fibromyalgia which has a bear of a sleep disorder with it, perhaps causing it. I 'didn't sleep well' until I completely imploded and ended up in the ER and after 3 mos of testing I was dx'd. I had trouble falling asleep and I was waking 30 or more times a night that I knew of. A sleep study showed NO REM sleep, no sleep deeper than stage 1.My internist rx'd Elavil. It did nothing. My DO then rx'd Ambien....first 10 mg....nothing.....then 20mg and I fell asleep quickly (too quickly i was in the family room on the couch.) I got up to 30mg of Ambien and had much relief. I was also taking 350mg of Soma, 10mg of Klonopin, 10 mg flexeril and drops of Sinequan into water to guzzle down at bedtime.unfortunately our bodies develop resistance and dependencies. I got down to 10 mg of Ambien as I was doing better overall, lost weight was exercising. Now, having only had about 3 hours of continuous sleep for a long time, a psychiatrist rx'd Neurontin, now up to 800mg at bedtime, and it helps. In fact I'm going back to sleep after this post.Hugs, Judy
