Support Groupies
We went to the support group this afternoon. A few notes.
-I was the youngest one there by at least 20 years. Not a big surprise. But there has to be other young-onset Parkinson's people in the area. Maybe if I keep going and one shows up, they won't feel alone and might return. Well, we'll see, huh?
-Very friendly people. It was us listening to a neurologist speak more than how we might picture a support group to be, sitting around a circle and talking about our lives, but there's pros and cons to that approach to, I think.
-I am glad I went.
-I'll be going back.
-There was a sales rep from a company that supplies ReQuip (a PD medication I had already tried), they put out a nice snack table with fruit and sandwich wraps. I only had a bottle of water this time because I had just had lunch a few hours before and also was a little nervous. I won't be so nervous next time. Oh no.
-The neurologist spoke about the lesser symptoms of PD, a few I could relate to, many I could not, but that's the way the disease progresses, it doesn't get everyone the same way, especially in the lesser symptoms like insomnia, nightmares, hallucinations, psychosis, etc. (a happy list, isn't it, folks?)
-I saw folks there who were, or seemed to me anyway, to be both better off than me and worse off than me. I recognized the hand twitching that I get, but I saw what I heard is pretty common where folk roll their fingers and thumb together in what is referred to as "pill-rolling" movements. I have not experienced that manifestation yet, nbelieve me the tremor is quite enough, thank you.
-Again, I am glad I went. This will embolden me to actually go to a Young Onset PD conference one day as I did enjoy being in a room and knowing the people around me knew my shaking wasn't something "odd"
Thanks for reading once again.
Good night.
Oh, if I don't see you between now and next Tuesday.... go vote, okay?

Come Along-a Baby...
... well, still doing pretty good here on day three of the Sinemet/Lexapro combo.
I have been noticing a headache after my second afternoon dosage of the Sinemet.
Question: Is it pronounced Sin-a-met or Sign-a-met? I've heard doctors say both so I'm not sure.
Went to my regular physician for a routine check-up, monitoring of my thyroid level... I'm just a walking chemical stew at this point. lol
He asked me for a urine sample and the sample I gave was.... excuse my detail here... orange looking. I remember seeing that discoloration of the urine might occur in one of the new pills I take now so it was no huge surprise.
I was a little tired amd groggy at mid-day today while at the doctors office. I was so used to it from being on the Mirapex that I hardly noticed it. It was certainly less than it has been since stopping the Mirapex.
Which is a good thing.
I was also harried this morning because I had several things to do before going to the doctor. I'm afraid, to quote comedian John Pinnette, that I lost my cherubic disposition.
