What is obsessive-compulsive disorder?

It has been estimated that one in fifty adults has some form of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), making it one of the most common mental illnesses. It often begins in the childhood or adolescent years but can begin in adulthood as well.

OCD can range in severity from mild and barely noticeable to debilitating, with sufferers unable to live normal lives because of their compulsions.
