Arthritis Drug Increases Heart Attack Risk, Protein May Explain Heart Risk in Diabetics

Patients taking Vioxx for arthritis had a 50 percent greater chance of heart attacks and sudden cardiac death than individuals using Celebrex.

"A protein playing an important role in controlling heartbeat might help explain the increased risk of potentially fatal congestive heart failure among type 2 diabetics, researchers say."
