Anosmia - Loss of Smell

Anosmia

Anosmia is the name for the lack of ability to smell. The condition can be either congenital or can occur after traumatic injury. Anosmia can create significant problems for the sufferer. People with no sense of smell are unable to smell smoke or other dangerous odors and they cannot tell if food is bad simply by smelling it. In addition to these problems, people with anosmia experience the world in a completely different way than others. They cannot smell flowers, the aromas of cooking food, the ocean breeze, or other pleasant scents. On the other hand, some may consider them lucky not to have to smell certain odors. A lot of research is being done and it is hoped that one day people who cannot smell will have the option of reversing the condition.

Smells Like Nothing at All
