Thoughts on Trauma Therapy--what works?

At my website for people with DID, I asked members, what works for you in trauma therapy? What does your therapist do that helps you?
Here are some of their thoughts:

we have learned to trust someone..much more then we knew was possible...learning what trust really means. and learning we can count on someone besides ourselves.
knowing someone truly cares about us without an agenda..without wanting something hurtful or scary in return.

Therapy is the only place I can say exactly what I'm thinking and not be judged or ridiculed. Where I can ask questions, about anything and everything, and get honest answers.

therapy is the one place i dont have to hide. i can feel hopeless and depressed and be heard and validated and gain hope or figure out reasons to not give up .

She helps me understand and manage my system.
