Treatment Guidelines for Dissociative Identity Disorder

I get a lot of questions about how therapy is supposed to work for people with DID: how long and how frequent sessions are supposed to be, are alters supposed to be allowed to talk to the therapist, is integration the only answer, things like that.

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation has a really good booklet of guidelines as far as how treatment should be for people with DID. Therapy of course needs to be individualized for each person and their therapist, but these recommendations from the ISSD will give you a general guideline to follow.
